Using Twitter search for business

Twitter search for businessUse Twitter search to find new followers or research hot topics #doncasterisgreat

Titter is a continually updating live source of information for your business. Through searching the site you can gain access to a huge raft of relevant data that is being passed continually even as you read this. Data that you need to be interested in.

Think of it as honest, freely offered, market research answers without having to hound Folk.

Through twitter people feel confortable talking about nearly all (Sometimes all!!) aspects of their lives including:

  • Where they are going today
  • What they have bought
  • What they are wanting to buy
  • What they think of your competitors
  • What they think of YOU
  • Problems they have
  • Things that annoy them
  • A need that they want satisfying

And an unlimited number of other subjects important to them.

Identify customer groups through Twitter search

Now it does not matter the demographic these tweeters are, that is irrelevant to you as a business, what should be important to you are their needs/wants and their desired outcomes as potential customers. Using twitter search you can start to identify these customer groups which can guide you when creating your websites main propositions.

If you are a business which operates locally it is so easy to localise your search simply by including your location ,or a variant of it such as Doncaster or Donny, in your search criteria.

Lets have a look at some examples:

If you want to know what people are buying in town in Doncaster one search could be http://twitter.com/#!/search/shopping%20in%20doncaster

If you want to know what people are currently looking for, say in Doncaster, the search could be http://twitter.com/#!/search/looking%20for%20doncaster

Interested to know what people are wanting in Doncaster? try something like this http://twitter.com/#!/search/want%20doncaster

Of course you can get even more specific and search for tweets relevant to your industry. It’s up to you, you know where your at and what you are wanting to achieve.

Remember, when you click on the above links the list that will appear will be different from when I did it, that’s because the results are live. That means up-to-date. That means good for your business. That means beautiful.

Have a great weekend

James
